To start a desktop broadcast, launch a game, and then select Desktop during your broadcast setup. Found out that old Screen Recorder by Burak Uyasaler is still available even for Windows 10 so this is better than Game Bar for non gamers. Best of all it produces very small wmv file as it records only desktop changes but of course will not produce good results for video or smooth animations. Was this reply helpful? I developed it not for gaming but just for simple purposes. I can add an option to change fps. If you all like, let me know I donot want to shout out for that version, as I want to keep SR simple.

Thanks this works as expected you are the best. GUI is simple so this small change doesn\’t impact novice users at all. I just figured out a way using Game Bar to record videos for any application or program with context menu or dropdowns. Here are steps. Firstly you need run your demo program on another computer or virtual machine maybe a Windows Sandbox. Then you need use Remote Desktop to connect to the computer on which the demo program runs from your capturing computer on which Game Bar runs.

This approach can record demo program\’s all activities including context menu and cursor movement. I wanted to post this answer to this question Game Bar doesn\’t record dropdowns but the post is locked.

Microsoft is over engineering with they game bar a simple screen recorder should be part of OS. I do not play games so I do not need game bar, games listed in [whatever] Store or ads with games why Microsoft, Apple, Google can\’t respect that. In reply to burakuysaler\’s post on March 23, I will still leave the topic open as there is no reply regarding Game Bar.

Why Screen Recorder doesn\’t record some dropdown lists from selected window? Adjust the remote desktop window size to enclose the demo program\’s window only.

Start Game Bar and start record. Start the demo program from remote desktop window and play the whole demo. Stop recording of Game Bar. Hopefully they can find this answer.

After activating the Game Bar, click on the record button to start recording. Or you can press Win + Alt + R instead. Click on the stop recording button to save the captured video to your PC.
